Lab tests

Lab testing

Know your numbers. A lab test shows where you really are and gives you training zones based on your own body, not on formulas.

What is a lab test?

You run or ride at increasing intensity while your body's response is measured: heart rate, the oxygen you use and, from a drop of blood, your lactate. The result is a precise picture of your endurance: your thresholds, your VO₂max and the zones you should train in.

Why test?

  • Train at the right intensity, with zones from your own thresholds instead of age formulas.
  • See real progress: a retest shows exactly what has changed.
  • Race smarter, knowing the pace or power you can hold.

Which test is right for me?

  • Your first test, and you want training zones: lactate profile.
  • You want to know your aerobic ceiling: VO₂max test.
  • You want the most accurate zones: VO₂max + lactate.
  • You train for long races: fat and carbohydrate use.
  • You're a runner looking for efficiency: running economy.
  • You want everything in one visit: Performance package.

Performance package

Duration: about 120 min

€250

What it measures

The full picture in one visit: VO₂max, lactate profile, fat and carbohydrate use and anthropometry, with a personal explanation of the results and your training zones.

What you get

  • VO₂max
  • Lactate profile
  • Fat and carbohydrate use
  • Anthropometry
  • A personal explanation of your results
  • Your training zones

How to prepare

  • No hard or long training in the 24 hours before the test.
  • Come fasted: nothing to eat for at least 8 hours before, water only.
  • Bring training clothes and the shoes you train in.
  • If you are ill or injured, move the test to another day.
Book Performance package

VO₂max test

Duration: about 45 min

€90

What it measures

Your maximal oxygen uptake: how much oxygen your body can use at full effort, the ceiling of your aerobic engine. You do an incremental test to exhaustion while breathing through a mask that measures the air you breathe in and out.

What you get

  • Your VO₂max and maximum heart rate
  • Your speed or power at VO₂max
  • Your results explained

How to prepare

  • No hard or long training in the 24 hours before the test.
  • Eat a light meal 2–3 hours before and drink as usual.
  • Bring training clothes and the shoes you train in.
  • If you are ill or injured, move the test to another day.
Book VO₂max test

Lactate profile

Duration: about 60 min

€90

What it measures

How your blood lactate rises as the effort grows. You run or ride in steps of increasing intensity, and after each step a drop of blood is taken from your fingertip or earlobe. The curve shows your aerobic threshold (LT1) and anaerobic threshold (LT2), the most reliable basis for training zones.

What you get

  • Aerobic (LT1) and anaerobic (LT2) threshold, with heart rate and pace or power at each
  • Your personal training zones
  • Your results explained

VO₂max + lactate

Duration: about 75 min

€150

What it measures

Both tests in one session: your lactate thresholds and your VO₂max together, for the most complete picture of your endurance and the most accurate training zones.

What you get

  • Aerobic (LT1) and anaerobic (LT2) threshold, with heart rate and pace or power at each
  • Your VO₂max and maximum heart rate
  • Your personal training zones

Fat and carbohydrate use

Duration: about 60 min

€130

What it measures

How much of your energy comes from fat and how much from carbohydrates at different intensities, measured from the air you breathe out. It shows the intensity at which you burn the most fat, which matters for long races and for planning what you eat during them.

What you get

  • Fat and carbohydrate use at each intensity
  • The intensity of your highest fat use (FATmax)
  • Your results explained

How to prepare

  • No hard or long training in the 24 hours before the test.
  • Come fasted: nothing to eat for at least 8 hours before, water only.
  • Bring training clothes and the shoes you train in.
  • If you are ill or injured, move the test to another day.

Running economy

Duration: about 45 min

€80

What it measures

How much oxygen you need to run at a given speed. Two runners with the same VO₂max can race very differently: the more economical one uses less energy at the same pace. Measured at several steady, submaximal speeds.

What you get

  • Oxygen cost at each tested speed
  • Your results explained

How to prepare

  • No hard or long training in the 24 hours before the test.
  • Eat a light meal 2–3 hours before and drink as usual.
  • Bring training clothes and the shoes you train in.
  • If you are ill or injured, move the test to another day.

Anthropometry

Duration: about 30 min

€50

What it measures

Body measurements: height, body mass and body composition. A baseline for following how your body changes over a season.

What you get

  • Height, body mass and body composition
  • Your results explained

How to prepare

  • No special preparation needed.
